Danny (1) - Ahmad (2)
2016) Danny - Ahmad 2:1 3-6 7-6 6-4
2017) Danny - Ahmad 2:1 5-7 6-3 7-5
The top two seeds clash in this mouth-watering quarterfinal tie. Really a match worthy of the final, the ETC version of Federer and Nadal clashing in the last 8 of a Grand Slam.
Danny has a 2-0 head to head advantage, curiously seeing Ahmad take the first set on each occasion only to be ultimately worn down by Danny’s relentless pressure. Will 2018 follow the same pattern as 2016 and 2017? Should be close again with the winner scheduled to meet Darren in the semis.
Damian - Pete (8)
The number 8 seed has justified his ranking in reaching the quarters, but can Pete go
one round further and defeat the heavily backed Damian. No head to heads between the two but both had similar wins over number 5 ranked Slaw. Damian probably starts as a slight favourite after 3 wins in the group stages adding Nigel and Angela to his scalps along with Slaw though he would do well not to underestimate Pete’s determination to reach the last 4 and take on Adrian in the semis.
