ETC Open Final Preview
The cream has risen to the top. Just like at the French with Novak and Rafa, Slaw and Danny have justified their rankings and won through to this year's final. Congratulations to both and commiserations to their semi-final opponents. Sunday’s match should be a cracker judged by the 3 set game between them last year. Both come to the final unbeaten and in fine form so it would be a brave man to predict the outcome with any confidence. Perhaps it will unfold like the French with either player seizing the initiative, more likely another desperately tense match as Slaw battles to
overturn his 0-3 record against Danny. Knowing each other's games so well expect few tactical surprises but plenty of great shot making. Sunday promises a great spectacle and a worthy culmination of the ETC season.
Danny (2) - Slaw (4)
2019) Danny - Slaw 2:1 7-5 2-6 7-6
2018) Danny - Slaw 2:0 6-0 6-1
2016) Danny - Slaw 2:0 6-1 6-3

ETC Challenger CUP
First of all congratulations to all four semi-finalists , credit for playing your matches. Lined up on semi-final’s day on Sunday we will see a distinguished barrister, by definition barristers are distinguished, an IT specialist, a member of the RAF Reserve and a retired, ex librarian, pensioner. Some diversity and a credit to ETC, but of course entirely irrelevant to tennis ability or form.
Interesting fact, three have been using the same coach. Matches between all four in the group stage have generally been closely and sportingly contested and the semi-finals should be the same. Leader in the clubhouse after the group stage, Matt is probably the favourite in his semi-final and Earl in the other but who knows on the day as Thiem and Halep on a slightly bigger stage,
have already found out.
Jonathan - Earl
2020) Jonathan - Earl 0:2 2-6 4-6
Matt - Pete (14)
2020) Matt - Pete 2:0 6-4 6-3
ETC Open Semifinals Preview
First of all congratulations to all four semi-finalists on reaching this stage of the
tournament. While the top players in the world at Roland-Garros have been
complaining about the cold, the wind and the heavy balls, the top four players
in the ETC have been battling their way to the penultimate round of this year's
competition and what matches are in prospect.
Danny (2) - Ivan (12)
2020) Danny - Ivan 2:1 6-2 2-6 6-3
Ivan as the lowest ranked player left in the tournament has his work cut out to stop the progress of the perennial finalist and sometime champion Danny. However Ivan has already
taken a set off his opponent this season so perhaps an upset could be on the cards. Intriguing!
Darren (3) - Slaw (4)
2019) Darren - Slaw 1:2 6-3 1-6 4-6
2019) Darren - Slaw 2:1 6-0 3-6 6-1
With no British players beyond the first round of the French local patriotic hopes are behind Darren to stop the progress of the Eastern European domination of the ETC Open. Darren
and Slaw has already had two close matches last season and are ranked three and four, both highly competitive so this semi-final is too close to call.
The ETC tipster goes Danny in straight sets and Darren in three but don't risk your life savings!
