FINALS (Match Statistics)
After a long season, plenty of on court drama and two cracking 3 set semis we now have the final line-up and it is an all Polish shoot-out between Slaw and Adrian.
Adrian (3) - Slaw (7)
Both deserve full credit for their semi-final wins, both battling back from losing the first set to snatch hard earned wins over the ever competitive Danny and Darren. Well the ETC win predictor rightly favoured Danny’s nemesis Adrian in the one semi but came unstuck with Slaw and Darren’s match. So who to go for this time? Adrian, higher ranked at number 3 or Slaw ranked 7 but within one game of his first title? The ETC Win Predictor goes with the current champion by 60-40 but expect Slaw to fight for bragging rights to the end. Powodzenia to two worthy finalists.
Well we are reaching the year-end finals, featuring the best 8 form players at the best
venues with enthusiastic crowds. Sorry that is the ATP men’s at the O2 in London. However
no less important and probably as keenly contested are the ETC Challenger Cup and the ETC Open semis.
Danny (1) - Adrian (3)
2018) Adrian - Danny 2:1 6-1 3-6 6-1
Who will have learnt most from last year’s final between these two. A
veritable clash of the Titans, the number 1 and 3 ranked players. Can Adrian play as he did in
in last year’s third set or will Danny prevail this year? Very close to call but based on last
year the ETC win predictor goes 55-45 to Adrian. Again the winner of this match will be
favourite in the final.
Darren (5) - Slaw (7)
2019) Darren - Slaw 2:1 6-0 3-6 6-1
Darren has already beaten Slaw once this year though over 3 sets and will be
feeling confident of a repeat. Slaw, however, had a fine straight sets win over Pete in the
quarters and was only narrowly defeated by Danny in round 3 sown confidence will be high
as well. The ETC win predictor favours Darren 60-40.
Following on from the news that Andy Murray was missing the US Open to drop down a level Danny must have wondered if he was going to receive a wild card request for this year’s ETC Open from the former world number 1. Apparently no such request has yet come to ETC headquarters so Danny and Darren, already qualified for the semis, can sleep easily at night . Or perhaps not as Pete, Slaw, Adrian and Ahmad are still in the competition about to battle out the remaining semi-final places.
Pete (4) - Slaw (7)
2018) Pete - Slaw 2:0 6-4 6-3
Ahmad (2) - Adrian (3)
2016) Ahmad - Adrian 2:0 7-5 6-1
The ETC win predictor was working well for the previous round but both the Pete v Slaw and Adrian v Ahmad matches could well be three set classics. Both Pete and Slaw have already taken a set off Danny in previous rounds so the outcome of this match is hard to call. Ultimately the ETC win predictor, going by Pete’s third place in the table, narrowly favours a British victory by 60-40. With even less current form to help in the other play-off and with the number 2 and 3 ranked players sizing each other up across the net, the win predictor goes 55-45 for Adrian. Will Slaw and Ahmad prove it wrong?
